Blackpool Tower opened on 14th May 1894, with the aquarium existing as a stand a lone attraction from the late 1870's. The tower is 518ft 9inches tall, with the walk of faith at 380ft from street level. The Tower alone contains 2,493 tons of steel and 93 tons of cast iron. The building at the base contains 985 tons of steel and 259 tons of cast iron. The Tower has a viewing platform at 380ft above the promenade and is reached by a lift or if you are a maintanance worker by 536 steps! Not for the feint hearted is the 'Walk of Faith' glass floor, a two inch clear panel that looks straight down to the Promenade below. The 'Walk of Faith' glass floor panel was placed at the Tower top in 1998. The glass floor weighs half a tonne and is made up of two sheets of laminated glass. The 'Walk of Faith' can withstand the weight equivalent to five baby elephants. To reach the top viewing platform at approximately 450ft you can walk up 2 flights of stairs. The present Ballroom was designed by Frank Matcham and opened in 1899. The Ballroom floor measures 120ft by 102ft. It comprises 30,602 separate blocks of mahogany, oak and walnut.

With around seven miles of fun packed coastline, Blackpool is the entertainment capital of Europe, and home to the world famous Blackpool Tower with its ballroom, circus, adventure play centre, aquarium and ride to the top of the tower. The tower also contains the nerve-wracking Walk of Faith - a glass floor, 380 feet above the ground that allows an unrestricted view of the street below. The town centre also hosts a variety of well known shops. It was the Victorians who developed Blackpool into a mega-resort, and in the early twentieth century they flocked here in their thousands to enjoy the fantastic combination of sun, sand and sea.

Blackpool Football Club Formed in 1889. Blackpool's newly-rebuilt Bloomfield Road ground is a stadium ready for the future. In 2005 it played host to three Group A games in the UEFA European Women's Championship. The official Blackpool Football Supporters Club is BSA, the Blackpool Supporters Assocoation. Our committee is elected by its members. Blackpool FC fully support our Association, and through our fund raising efforts, we put funds directly back into the club by sponsoring matches and players.

Three quarters of the ground have now been redeveloped in recent years, with some excellent looking all seater stands, complete with spectacular looking floodlights. The three stands, at both ends and at one side of the pitch, are of the same height and style and are all large, covered, single tiered stands. Each has a likeness of a past player outlined on the seats and is named after that player. Tom Finney, Bill Shankly and now on the latest stand to be built, goalkeeping legend Alan Kelly, makes a welcome change from the boring letters (such as 'Holte End' - Don't they know which stand they are in?) outlined on most new stands.
